How to Play Streets and Alleys Solitaire?

Streets and Alleys is a classic yet amusing card game that offers a decent amount of both strategy and patience. It is also related to Forty Thieves Solitaire, but the rules are easier, and the setup is neater. Played with a standard 52-card deck, this game is perfect for players who enjoy thoughtful planning and organizing cards to achieve victory.

Setup the game by shuffling and dealing into eight tableau piles, facing up. Each tableau pile must contain six cards, and the remaining four cards need to form a reserve pile that can be used during the game. The goal is to build four foundation piles in ascending order by suit from Aces up to Kings.

Cards in the tableau move in descending order by suit. Unlike some solitaire games, only one card can be moved at any given time. The empty spaces in the tableau are also critical to the game, for any available card can be placed there to reorganize the tableau and create new opportunities to dig out buried cards. The reserve cards add more flexibility, since they can be played either to the tableau or directly to the foundations.
