What are the Fortress Solitaire ?

Fortress Solitaire is one intriguing card game wherein a person conquers a card fortress through strategical and tactical thinking. Using a regular deck of 52 cards, this variation of solitaire is different from the already famous Beleaguered Castle Solitaire; it contains a tableau in the form of a fortified stronghold. Set the game out by shuffling the deck. After shuffling the deck, a row of the top cards drawn are all four Aces, laid down to make up the four foundation piles. These go up in suit from low to high. These "walls" will make up your fortress and serve as the meat and potatoes of this game.

Cards are moved in the tableau in descending order by rank, but suits do not need to match. Only the top card of each pile in the tableau is free to be played, and no spaces in the tableau can be filled. This makes the game a little bit more challenging because one has to think over his moves in advance so as not to leave some important cards blocked. Success in it depends on how the player is able to handle the tableau piles intelligently and find ways for cards to reach the foundations.
