How to Play Peg Solitaire?

Peg Solitaire is an immortal and entertaining board game where the player has to logically take out pegs from a board with foresight. This game, also popularly known as "Solo Noble," has been played for centuries and usually consists of a wooden board with indented spaces for pegs. Its simple rules provide easy access to beginners, while its depth ensures hours of gratifying play.

To set up Peg Solitaire, one uses a cross-shaped board with holes or slots for the pegs. Most variations start with all but the center position filled; there, the hole is left open. The object is to clear the board of pegs in the following fashion: a peg jumps over another peg into an empty space, much like in checkers. Then, the jumped peg is taken out, and the game continues down until only one peg remains.

Jumping of pegs horizontally or vertically, but never diagonally, is done in the game. It's very easy to find yourself stuck with no more valid jumps; thus, moves should be well considered. To play tactically, one needs to think of what the board will look like after several moves. There are different shapes for the Peg Solitaire boards: triangular and square; each added a little more complexity to the game.

Peg Solitaire is a challenging but rewarding game in which one can test his or her skills and patience; thus, it can be taken as a work-out for one's brains-be the person young or old.
